Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody has topped a poll of best songs voted by European music fans. The Express says only three songs in the top 100, voted for by 30,000 music fans across Europe, were not by British, American or Canadian artists. They were two by Abba - Dancing Queen and Waterloo - and Ne Me Quitte Pas by Jacques Brel. Even French voters only had two French-language songs in their top ten. But there were some anomalies in the chart, put together by pop channel Music Choice. Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven - which never made the UK charts - came in in third place, just behind John Lennon's Imagine. The highest the Beatles reached as a group was Yesterday, in fifth place, just behind Robbie Williams' Angels. The Fab Four did however have the most songs of any group in the top 100, with six making it. But the highest Madonna could reach was number 52 with Like A Prayer. Germans were found to have a strong liking for R&B. Usher's Yeah and Eamon's F**k It both made the top ten songs from German voters, ahead of the Beatles' Let It Be. |
