 Ananova:
Dickens role for David Jason

Edinburgh's famed Georgian buildings have been transformed into Dickensian London for a new drama series starring David Jason.

Yorkshire Television is filming the four-part series Micawber, in which Jason plays a character from Charles Dickens' novel David Copperfield, in the Scottish capital.

A spokesman said: "We have recreated Dickens' London in Edinburgh for the filming of many key sequences of the series.

"This is due to the city containing some of the best-preserved Georgian buildings in Britain."

William Street, in the city's West End, has been transformed into a Victorian neighbourhood with shops, workshops and Micawber's house for the filming.

Micawber was written by John Sullivan, best known for his long-running partnership with David Jason in Only Fools and Horses.

The title character is described as "extravagant but very genteel", fond of long words and keeping up appearances, even though in reality he has no money and no job.

Jason said: "I very much hope that I can make him a household name. He's a lovable rogue with a heart of gold, always jovial with a generosity beyond his means."
