Libertines frontman Pete - suspended from the group over his addiction to heroin and crack - was punched and kicked in the head near his home in Farringdon, central London.

He was dragged into the road and hit by a car after he was threatened. Pete escaped by flagging down another car. reports the News Of The World.

He suffered cuts and bruises but did not need hospital treatment.
