Britney Spears really was naked in the video for hit single Toxic.

Most fans had assumed the pop star had worn a nude-coloured diamond encrusted stocking, reports The Sun.

But the director of the music promo, Joseph Kahn, said: "That's just her naked with diamonds on."

Meanwhile, the pop star was reportedly reduced to tears after being heckled during a visit to a newsagents in Santa Monica.

Three men yelled abuse about her fiance Kevin Federline, the paper says.

One shouted: "Where's your leech boyfriend?"

Another asked why Britney was wearing a Harvard University sweatshirt "when she has no brains."

A witness told The Sun: "She went bright red and it looked as if she was crying."
