Christina Aguilera says she loves changing her image and thinks there's no such thing as a fashion faux pas.

But she told Elle Girl magazine that she does get annoyed when the media pick up on just one side of her image.

"So many people have this idea, this preconceived notion, that I always dress provocatively. I've been dressed head to hoe in many different outfits.

"But of course the media don't show that because they decide what your image is going to be - whether you like it or not.

"Anyway, I don't believe in the words fashion faux pas because it's self-expression. It's like Van Gogh looking at a piece of his art and saying: "Oh, that's an art faux pas".

"It's the same with fashion. Anyone who doesn't agree with me, I'm opening their mind. I'm pushing them to think outside the box they live in."

She says she's bemused by reports that she has either split up with, or got engaged to, boyfriend Jordan Bratman who she's been seeing for the last two years.

"The funniest thing is, because I changed my hair colour to caramel, I'm reading these headlines, 'From dirty to demure' and 'From crass to class'.

"It cracks me up... It's so funny. Now Britney's the bad girl running wild and I'm the good girl in love and cleaning up.

"It's the media's new angle. We've changed role - good girl and bad girl!"
