U2 will begin their European tour with two hometown concerts in Dublin at the city's Croke Park on June 26 and 27, according to reports in Ireland. The band may add a third show on June 28 if there is the demand for it, according to Ireland's Sunday Business Post. Up to 80,000 tickets will be sold for each gig. U2 previously played the venue twice in 1986 in front of a total of 120,000 fans and performed there at the opening of last year's Special Olympics. The GAA was reportedly keen to attact a big name concert in a bid to ease the stadium's financial difficulities. The venue is £66 million in debt. U2 release their first album for four years, How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, on November 22 preceded by the single, Vertigo, on November 8. |
