Bill Gates pays Sting over £200K for private gig

Sting has picked up a cheque for £273,000 for performing just eight songs at a private party thrown by Microsoft boss Bill Gates.

The former Police frontman performed at the party the Microsoft billionaire threw at New York's Supper Club, reports the New York Daily News.

Sting begins a series of UK and Irish shows later this month.

The tour includes Dublin's The Point on November 16, Belfast's Odyssey on November 17, Newcastle Metro Radio Arena on November 19, Glasgow's SECC on November 20, Manchester Evening News Arena on November 22 and Birmingham NEC Arena on November 23.

The shows are the latest on his Sacred Love tour. Earlier this year the 53-year-old singer was forced to cancel a series of UK shows due to laryngitis.
