A record executive has tried to put a £1 million bet on Band Aid 20 reaching Christmas No. 1. Ladbrokes spokesman Warren Lush said: " The customer tried to stake £1 million on Band Aid at odds of 1/5 but we turned down the bet. "We offered him the opportunity place a smaller bet but he said it was £1 million or nothing." "If he were to have had the bet he would have won £200,000, taking home £1.2 million. He remarked that it was better interest than that offered by a bank or building society." "We didn't take the bet as it seems like it will take a miracle for it not to go to number one. The customer wishes to stay anonymous at this stage." Other favourites for Christmas No. 1 includes Ronan Keating and Cat Stevens at 10/1, the X Factor winner at 16/1 and Robbie Williams at 20/1. |
