 Ananova:
Petition to stop Ashlee Simpson singing live

A petition to try and persuade Ashlee Simpson's record company to stop her singing live ever again has been launched.

Already 65,000 people have added their names to it.

The petition at www.stopashlee.com was set up after the 20-year-old star sang at a half-time football show earlier this month in Miami and was booed for her efforts by the 72,000 fans in the Orange Bowl stadium.

The petition, addressed to Simpson's record label Geffen Records and JT Entertainment, her father Joe's management company, reads, "We, the undersigned, are disgusted with Ashlee Simpson's horrible singing and hereby ask her to stop.

It adds that "she cannot match the sound of her voice that can be found on her CDs when she sings live. She simply yells the words (sometimes the wrong ones) into the mic."

The site was set up by New Yorker Bethany Decker who lists her musical tastes as anything from rockers Maroon 5 to Judy Garland.

"It's been really surprising," Decker told the New York Daily News.

"With word of mouth and people mentioning it on the radio, it's gotten insane."

Simpson, who releases her latest single, La La this week, launches her first ever tour in the US next month in support of her debut album Autobiography.
