Usher has told friends he's interested in taking a backseat in the music industry as a record executive.

The 26-year-old R&B singer told Warner Music executive Steve Stoute he is considering moving to New York and "wants to really concentrate on playing a more executive role and not just be an artist," reports the New York Post.

Usher apparently admires P Diddy and Jay-Z who have both successfully made the transition from rapper to music executive heading a major hip-hop and rap label.
