 Ananova:
Kaiser Chiefs top NME shortlist

The Kaiser Chiefs have six nominations for this year's NME Awards.

Their nominations include best British band, live band, album, track, music DVD and video awards.

According to BBC online drummer Nick Hodgson said: "Obviously we're very pleased. It's great to be up for the best album and best live band awards.

"I hope people vote for us because we've never won anything we've been nominated for before."

Franz Ferdinand and Oasis both received five nods each, while Arctic Monkeys have four nominations.

This year's Godlike Genius Award goes to Ian Brown, the former frontman of the Stone Roses.

The winners will be decided by NME readers ahead of the ceremony at the Hammersmith Apollo on 23 February.
