Gnarls Barkley have started work on with their second album. The duo, whose first album St Elsewhere stormed to the top of the UK album charts in May this year, are eager to strike while the iron's hot and produce a follow-up. Danger Mouse, who provides the beats for the pair, told MTV that he and singer Cee-Lo Green have "started to throw some ideas around... but it's still a little way away." He added: "We want to make the record sooner than later - go in there and continue what we're doing." As for the direction of the new record, Danger Mouse says the twosome will continue to forge their own way irrespective of the opinions of fans and critics. "We definitely don't want to make it based on our reactions to what people are saying about this album," he confirmed. Since the success of Gnarls Barkley, both Danger Mouse and Cee-Lo have gone on to work on other projects, with Green releasing a compilation of his greatest solo-work, entitled Closet Freak: The Best Of Cee-Lo Green The Soul Machine, on October 31.
