Johnny Depp wants to make a film about an eccentric bank robber.

The idea is inspired by Attila Ambrus, a Hungarian former ice hockey player.

He became famous for drinking whisky as he robbed banks.

Ambrus also gave flowers to female bank clerks as he asked them to hand over money and spectacularly evaded police, in one case jumping into the Danube to flee from them.

Ambrus broke out of jail when he was first arrested by tying together bed sheets and climbing down the walls of his prison.

He is currently serving 15 years in jail.

But Depp says he has read Ambrus's memoirs and wants to use them as a basis for a film.
