Avril Lavigne says that her favourite place to perform is the UK.

The Canadian singer said that while the UK is her favourite country to tour, her fans all across Europe put US audiences to shame.

She told the Daily Star: "Crowds over here tend to be way more insane. I don’t know what it is but in Europe everyone is so up for it.

"I always have a great time because the crowds are just there to enjoy it."

Avril also said she saw herself as an inspiration and believes that she is a unique songwriter.

She said: "I have a smile on my face the whole time. I write my songs just for me about what pleases me and what I’m feeling.

"I have my own style that happens to be different from everyone else in Hollywood. My inspiration is me."
