 Ananova:
Blur Enjoy Their Return To London Parklife

Britpop favourites Blur have made a triumphant return to Parklife - during which they revealed the inspiration for their hit single.

Fresh from a Glastonbury headline slot, the four-piece performed a two-hour comeback concert in London's Hyde Park on Thursday night.

And frontman Damon Albarn told his devout audience they were standing on hallowed Blur turf.

"I had the idea for this song in this park... I used to come into the park and watch the people and the pigeons and all that stuff," he said.

Former EastEnder Phil Daniels also joined the band on stage to go hand in hand through the rendition of their celebrated 1994 hit.

Albarn was in good form throughout the night, jogging, pogoing and spinning round the stage, and only stopping at one point to tie his shoelaces.

He had already promised reporters the group would put their "heart and soul" into the London gigs, with another performance scheduled for tonight.

Tickets for tonight's reunion concert sold out within two minutes and Thursday's date was put on to meet the demand.

Albarn told the audience: "(When) we first thought maybe it would be a good idea to do some gigs, the first thing we did was to book this place.

"The last two weeks have just been extraordinary."

Having kicked off with She's So High, over the two hours that followed the crowd rejoiced among classics including Beetlebum, Girls And Boys and Country House.
