 Ananova:
Jackson's Mother Relieved Of Estate Duties

Michael Jackson's mother has been removed as temporary administrator of his estate.

A Los Angeles judge has given the role to two of the US pop star's business associates in line with his 2002 will.

Jackson's 79-year-old mother Katherine was named temporary administrator of her son's assets on June 29.

It came after lawyers for the musical family said they were not aware of the existence of a valid will.

But two days later, a will was filed by two respected business associates of Jackson, lawyer John Branca and music executive John McClain, naming them as the co-executors of the singer's estate.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff ruled Branca and McClain should be placed in charge of Jackson's assets - which include his Neverland Ranch and rights to Beatles songs - until a new hearing on August 3.

Lawyers for Katherine Jackson had opposed the motion to appoint the two men, citing a "conflict of interests" and questioning whether Branca had a current relationship with Jackson at the time of his death.

Meanwhile, thousands of ticketless Jackson fans have been warned to stay away from his memorial service on Tuesday or face a hard-line police response.

More than 1.6 million people applied for a seat at the Los Angeles service, but only 17,500 have been given tickets for the event.

It comes as the city's acting mayor said Jackson will be buried at an LA cemetery on Tuesday shortly before the gala tribute.

The funeral will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery at 8am (1600 GMT), two hours before the memorial service at the downtown Staples Centre, Jan Perry said.

The Los Angeles Police Department warned it will show no sympathy to those who try to get near to the centre in downtown LA.

Assistant Chief Jim McDonnell said: "Anybody who does not hold proper credentials, tickets to get in to the event, will not be allowed inside the security zone.

"So for those who are thinking about coming out and maybe getting a shot to get in, that won't happen.

"You will be standing in the hot sun on a city street with a lot of other people and you probably will not even be within eyeshot of the Staples."

British fan Michelle Baker flew to LA in the hope of getting into the memorial service.

She told Sky News: "It was an 11 hour flight and we only came for three days and it won't be the same watching on TV."

Fellow fan Sarah Fawcett, who was visiting the house where Jackson collapsed, also received bad news.

She said: "This was our last chance to say goodbye. A week on Tuesday he would have been performing in London and we had tickets to the first show. I had to be here."

By Sunday, adverts offering tickets for sale began to appear on websites Craigslist and eBay, although most were swiftly removed.

Ticket winners who beat the 183-1 odds of being chosen will be given a wristband to wear when they are issued with their tickets in order to make it harder for touts to cash in.

Mariah Carey, Smokey Robinson, Usher, Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder and Magic Johnson are all confirmed as guests at the memorial service.

Detectives investigating Jackson's death are focusing their inquiries on a number of doctors who are alleged to have supplied prescription drugs to the star.

The LA coroner is waiting for the results of toxicology tests before delivering the full results of his post-mortem examination.

:: Sky is broadcasting Michael Jackson - The Farewell at 5:30pm on Tuesday in high definition on the Sky News website, on Sky Arts HD (channel 258) and on Sky News.
