Hollywood actress Daryl Hannah is aiming to banish her "overwhelming stage-fright" as she makes her theatre debut before giving up acting for good. The actress, who is to appear in a new version of The Seven Year Itch in London's West End, has been terrified of appearing in front of a live audience for many years. "It's one of those things - either I'll survive it or I won't," said the 39-year-old, who opens in the show on October 9. "I have never done theatre before and the reason I am doing this is to confront that fear I have, because I have an enormous, overwhelming stage-fright." She says she would maybe do two more years in front of the camera before turning her attention more to film-making. The actress, whose movies include Splash, Roxanne and Blade Runner, says there had been few films she had made which satisfied her creativity. Hannah has recently worked with British director Mike Radford on the film Dancing At The Blue Iguana and she was keen to team up with him again for the stage production, which he is also directing. Radford says that working with his cast on the film had led them to become almost a theatre troupe and the experience convinced him she would be perfect for his first stage venture. |
