Geena Davis is to launch her own sitcom on America's ABC network next month.

She will star as a successful party planner whose life changes when she starts a relationship with a father of two.

The comedy comes from her efforts to be an instant mother to an emotional six-year-old girl and an unpredictable 13-year-old while maintaining her former lifestyle.

The Geena Davis Show, which will debut October 10, also stars fellow Hollywood actress Mimi Rogers.

And Davis has reportedly been causing chaos on set by practising archery between scenes.

The actress, ranked tenth in the sport in America, is hoping to go to the Athens Olympics in 2004 and insists on polishing her technique.
