Pop Idol presenter Kate Thornton says she is horrified that people think she is sleeping with Simon Cowell.

The 32-year-old says rumours that they are having an affair are "completely untrue", reports The Sun.

"I'm mortified that everyone thinks I'm sh***ing Cowell. He's got a beautiful girlfriend so that would make me a homewrecker - and a woman of poor taste," added Thornton.

The presenter of Pop Idol Extra on ITV2 said: "He says, 'Darling, if I wanted you I could have you,' and I say, 'You couldn't. I think you're great but you're kind of short and a bit hairy.' "
