 Ananova:
German I'm a celebrity show exposed as a con

The German version of the TV reality series "I'm a celebrity - Get me out of here!" has been exposed as a con after it was revealed most of the dangers the stars were supposed to face are non-existent.

Broadcasters RTL had claimed that the celebs would have to survive "life in the real Australian jungle, one of the most dangerous in the world". Yet the supposedly remote camp even has a psychiatrist on hand to give counselling to stars if they get upset by the experience.

The 'camp' is also near a busy road, and rather than being exposed to the elements is under a giant tarpaulin to keep out rain. The area was also cleaned by staff to make sure no dangerous animals like spiders and snakes were left behind.

German newspaper "Bild" which exposed the scam said that the camp is protected from tropical rainfalls by a large cover - and was cleared of dangerous animals before the stars arrived.

Fans have jammed the stations switchboard with complaints after discovering the claims of "two weeks of authentic jungle life in the outdoors without contact to the outside world" were a fraud.

Antonia Langsdorf, one of the candidates at the camp, admitted, "We heard cars driving past. Civilisation was just a few minutes away."

Although presenters Dirk Bach and Sonja Zietlow are seen fighting through the downpour, the camps residents are spared the rain thanks to the expensive cover.

A spokeswoman for the production company confirmed it was true that "the camp is covered."
