Emmerdale star Sammy Winward and footballer David Dunn have split up - just four months after getting engaged.

Sammy, 18, who plays Katie Addyman in the soap, had hoped to marry the Birmingham City star this summer.

David, 24, proposed the night before she turned 18 last October.

But the Sun says the couple's heavy work schedules have driven them apart. While David has been training in Birmingham, Sammy has been living with her parents in Bolton and working in Yorkshire.

A spokesman for the show told the paper: "There is nobody else involved and they are both still friends."
