John Lydon has walked off the set of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!

The foul-mouthed star, who is the bookmakers' red hot favourite to win the show, left the jungle camp just before 3am British time, after hugging his fellow contestants.

There has been no explanation of the incident on the show since it happened, and it is not clear whether the 48-year-old will return.

His impromptu exit leaves just six celebrities left in the jungle.

ITV bosses had to impose a time delay on the show on Wednesday after an outburst of bad language from Lydon, who has been among the bookies' favourites to win.
