 Ananova:
Newsreader gives birth to first child

Newsreader Andrea Catherwood has given birth to her first child - a 6lb 11oz boy.

Catherwood, 36, and her lawyer husband have named the baby Finn Harry Catherwood Smith.

The Belfast-born ITV newscaster and international correspondent wed Gray Smith in September 2002.

Catherwood - who reported on the Iraq war and was injured by shrapnel in Afghanistan - said she was overwhelmed.

"I know all mothers say this, but I can't believe he's so beautiful and perfect," she said.

The newsreader is taking time off to look after Finn, who was born a fortnight ago on February 9.

Catherwood met her husband during a holiday in the Cayman Islands and they were married in Kenmare, Co Kerry.

She made headlines by wearing an eye-catching wedding dress with a bare midriff which revealed her pierced belly button.

But during her pregnancy, she adapted her own style, saying: "It's not occurred to me to show my belly like some women."
