Annie Lennox said she was "stunned" after winning an Oscar for her song Into the West from Lord of the Rings. The 49-year-old Scottish singer gave Britain something to shout about on an disappointing Oscars night for the UK.
Lennox was among a trio of winners for the song which was one of the 11 Oscars the Lord of the Rings scooped. Alongside Fran Walsh and Howard Shore, Lennox seemed overcome as she dedicated the award to her mother, who died last year, and the late composer Michael Kamen, reports BBC News Online. Wearing a Stella McCartney 1930s-inspired ice blue silk satin dress, she said: "Wow. I am stunned. Thank you so very much to the Academy. "I would like to thank Peter Jackson so much for inviting me to be part of this extraordinary project. Thank you so much Peter, it's amazing." |
