 Ananova:
Forsyth to host new Come Dancing show

Bruce Forsyth is to host a a new version of Come Dancing as BBC1 aims to revamp its Saturday night schedule.

Forsyth will front Strictly Come Dancing live from Television Centre. The updated show will allow viewers to vote for their favourite teams.

A new Generation Game will be hosted by Lily Savage creator, Paul O'Grady. The Daily Mail says it will be more hi-tech than the old show, but the cuddly toy on the conveyor belt will remain.

Johnny Vaughan and Denise Van Outen are teaming up again - this time for Saturday Night with Johnny and Denise. Cilla Black is to front a panel show, and Dr Who is also set for a return to BBC screens.

Controller Lorraine Heggessey, who said there are two other shows in production, defended the use of tried and trusted names. "There's never anything that's completely new. ITV's Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway is a derivative of Noel's House Party.

"We are trying to grow the next generation of shows but it is really difficult to get entertainment right."

She said the BBC was "experimenting" by trying out Saturday night variety shows, but added: "The only way we are going to do that is through a process of trial and error."
