Ananova:

Will & Grace star Debra Messing has given birth to a son.

He weighed 5lb and 14oz and is the first child for Messing and her screenwriter husband Daniel Zelman.

The 35-year-old was unable to appear in this season's final four episodes of the comedy due to her pregnancy.

NBC said Messing's doctor had asked her to take a break from the show.

Messing will return to work in the summer, in time to start shooting episodes for next season.
