Mel B is reportedly in talks to be a judge on a new 'battle of the bands' talent show.

The Mirror says the former Spice Girl could line up alongside Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh on The X Factor.

Sources claim the show is being produced by Cowell's company SiCo, and is being lined up by ITV1 to air in October.

An insider tells the paper: "The programme will follow a battle of the bands format - each judge will choose an act that will compete against the others.

"The show is different from Pop Idol in that the judges themselves are under scrutiny - they have to use their experience to guide their acts rather than just slag people off."
