Jennifer Lopez says she regrets giving herself the name J-Lo.

She made the admission during an interview for the US show Inside the Actor's Studio.

The New York Post reports the star also turned the air blue when asked what her favourite swear word is.

"[Bleeping] whore!" said Lopez unblinkingly - despite the fact her mum was sitting in the front row.

She referred to Guadalupe Lopez as "my mom, the millionaire" - a reference to her £1.4 million jackpot win on the Atlantic City slot machines earlier this month.

When host James Lipton asked J-Lo: "If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive?" She replied: "'Nice going, you did your best," and "There are no paparazzi here."

J-Lo told him she was nervous about doing the show. On the subject of Gigli - which was panned by the critics - she said: "I can do better than that."

She also found time to invite one of the audience on stage for a salsa dance, and told acting students her current beau - Marc Anthony - was the "most talented singer in the world."
