Angus Deayton has signed a deal to present a comedy quiz show on ITV1.
Deayton hosted BBC One's Have I Got News For You until he was axed in 2002 over newspaper revelations involving cocaine and prostitutes. He is understood to have signed a non-exclusive deal to present the show Bognor or Bust on the channel. The programme will go out later this year and sees the winner walk away with a trip to the seaside. A spokeswoman for ITV said they were talking to Deayton about a number of other projects, but he had not signed an exclusive deal with the channel. Since being sacked from the popular quiz, Deayton has continued to work for the BBC, including BBC Two's Comic Relief University Challenge and a role in dark comedy Nighty Night. A number of one-off presenters, including Bruce Forsyth and Charlotte Church, have presented Have I Got News For You since Deayton's departure. |
