Cate Blanchett has given birth to a baby boy.

According to the Mirror, The Lord Of The Rings star was said to be doing well after the baby, called Roman Robert was born in London.

Cate, 34, and screen-writer husband Andrew Upton also have a two-year-old son Dashiell John.

Her US-based publicist Lisa Kateler said: "Everybody is fine."

Blanchett won a 2001 Golden Globe and Oscar nomination for her title role as the queen in the 1998 hit film Elizabeth.

She stars as Katharine Hepburn in The Aviator, Martin Scorsese's new film about Howard Hughes.

Cate and Andrew, who married in 1997, live in Brighton, East Sussex.
