JK Rowling says she's too busy to write an episode of Dr Who for the BBC. The Corporation had wanted the Harry Potter author to pen an episode for the new series set for television screens next year. But she told them she was too busy writing the sixth Harry Potter novel, which is scheduled for publication next summer. She's also busy looking after her second child, one-year-old David, says the Daily Record. Executive producer and writer Russell T Davies said he regretted not landing the Edinburgh-based author. He told the Dr Who magazine: "I asked JK Rowling if she would like to write an episode for the new series. But she told me she was amused by the suggestion but simply doesn't have the time." A spokeswoman for Rowling added: "She is very busy at the moment writing her book and it would be impossible for her to take on any other projects." The 13-part Dr Who series is set to be shown early next year, and each episode is reported to have a budget of about £1m. |
