Film bosses have postponed the release date of Jennifer Lopez's new film to avoid a box office battle with Tom Cruise. The release date for Shall We Dance? has been moved back by two months to avoid a clash with Cruise's Collateral on August 6th. A source told US Weekly, "Miramax worried that women would pick Tom over Jennifer." Lopez's movie will now hit US cinemas on October 15th instead. A Miramax representative says the movie tested among the top three in the company's history and that the later date is better for awards consideration and less crowded with other openings. Collateral will be released in the UK on October 1, Shall We Dance will not hit UK cinemas until next year. |
