Matt Damon and Amanda Peet have agreed to star in the thriller Syriana.

According to the Hollywood Reporter Damon will play Bryan Woodman an oil executive who's in major deal-making mode with a sheik, when he and his wife Julie (Peet) suffer a major family tragedy.

The film is inspired by the memoirs of real-life CIA agent Robert Baer (George Clooney), called See No Evil: The True Story of a Foot Soldier in the CIA's War on Terrorism.

Clooney, his Section Eight Productions partner Steven Soderbergh, and Michael Nozik will produce.

Clooney and Damon are currently starring together in Ocean's Twelve.
