Actress Meg Ryan says her divorce from Dennis Quaid has given her more time for herself.

She told Woman magazine: "I am stronger than ever right now. I have much more time for myself, which I enjoy a lot."

Ryan, who split from Quaid three years ago, said she's also more confident and enjoys various pastimes.

"I spend more time on my hobbies. I do a lot of photography and write poems," she said.

Ryan also believes Hollywood is gradually getting used to more independent women. "Many men think women are naturally dim-witted", she claimed.

"But to me, it seems prejudices are gradually subsiding. Today, women run major companies - even in Hollywood."
