Helena Bonham Carter is said to be baffled by reports that spread across America last weekend claiming she had had a baby - eight months after she actually gave birth.

IMDB says the Washington Post, USA Today and Miami Herald all ran reports about a birth on Saturday.

But she and Tim Burton's son Billy Ray was actually born last October, and her representatives insist she has not conceived another one since then.

A spokesperson said: "The only child she gave birth to was in October, 2003."

It's not clear yet how the mix-up occurred.
