Mobile internet firm Genie has unveiled what it claims is the world's first dictionary dedicated to mobile phone messaging. The SMS Dictionary or 'SMS DXNRE' brings together the most common short message service abbreviations coined by the digital generation. The wallet-sized guidebook claims to provide novices with the shorthand for almost every occasion - from RUOK? (Are you okay?) to IL B L8 (I'll be late). Dictionary researcher Marco Miranda claims a unique understanding of the new language, having met his girlfriend chatting via his mobile phone keypad. The company - which is launching the guide to coincide with the roll-out of a new tariff for its web phone customers - is offering free copies of the dictionary to visitors to the Genie.co.uk website. |
