Astronomers have discovered a group of stars that look like the TV character Victor Meldrew. Four scientists have found the stars in the shape of the One Foot in the Grave character played by Richard Wilson. Victor's eyes, nose and jowls are made up of stars in Ursa Major - the Great Bear reports The Sun. The rest of his face is formed by constellations Coma Berenices (Berenice's Hair), Canes Venatici (the Hunting Dogs), Draco (the Dragon), Boötes (the Herdsman) and Ursa Minor (the Little Bear). Dr Mark Garlick, whose work was commissioned by UKTV Gold, said: "The sky is the ultimate TV screen and if you know where to look, one of TV's most famous comedy icons is twinkling down at you in all its stellar glory. "Look closely at Ursa Major. And with a bit of imagination, you might just spot Victor." A spokeswoman for New Scientist magazine said: "Some real constellations are visible in the pictures, like Ursa Major and Ursa Minor." TV astronomer Sir Patrick Moore said: "I am sure Mr Wilson will be delighted by this find. It is not every day you find your name in stars like this." |
