Pensioner's hearing returns on skiing trip

A pensioner who had been deaf for 15 years got his hearing back on a skiing trip.

Derek Glover, 72, was descending from 7,000ft in a cable car when his ears "popped" and he was hit by an "incredible wave" of noise.

Derek from Bourne, Lincolnshire, has thrown away his two hearing aids.

Experts believe that a sudden change in air pressure may explain the return of his hearing.

According to the Daily Express Derek said: "I kept quiet at first when we got home because I thought my hearing loss would return. But a nurse examined my ears and found they were fine. My hearing has improved massively, and I don't need my hearing aids any more."
