A Chinese student says he has owned and mastered about 500 mobile phones over the past nine years.

Zhang Yi, 24, of Nanjing University in Nanjing city, says he loves learning new functions of the latest phones.

He has become a mobile phone consultant and problem-solver for his fellow students, according to Kuaibao Daily.

“I got my first cell phone in 1998, as a present from my father,” says Zhang, whose father is a phone wholesaler.

“I felt a great sense of fulfillment after learning all of the functions. From then on, a mobile phone has been like a big toy to me. I always want to have the latest one to learn its functions.”

It’s rare for Zhang to use a phone for more than a month. After mastering all the functions, he will resell the phone to his schoolmates or in a second-hand market.

“It takes less and less time for me to fully understand a new model, and I still haven’t found the phone which suits me best," he said.
