 Ananova:
Mum, 46, asked for ID

A 46-year-old mum-of-three was asked for proof of age when buying alcohol at her local supermarket.

Sarah Burge, a 46-year-old mum of three, was asked for proof of age when she tried to buy alcohol at Tesco in St Neots, Cambs /Empics

Sarah Burge says she had to show a cashier her driving licence to buy four bottles of red wine at Tesco in St Neots, Cambridgeshire.

Mrs Burge has had more than £180,000 worth of cosmetic surgery and has been called The Real Life Barbie, reports Sky News.

She said: "The woman cashier, who was probably about eight years older than me, said: "I assume you are over 18 in order to purchase this wine?"

"I looked at her and said: "I am 46, actually." She looked a bit shocked and looked at me as if to say: "Don't be so cheeky." Then I showed her my driving licence.

"She was very polite and nice and just said: "I have to do my job. I have to ask anyone who looks under 21." To think I might have passed for under 18 is absolutely wonderful."

A Tesco spokesman said: "We are delighted Sarah enjoyed being ID'd at Tesco. We have strict procedures in place for the sale of alcohol. Anyone who looks under 21 will be asked to provide proof of age."
