After opening presents, a boozy Christmas dinner, the Queen's Speech and the first hour of the big movie, most of us will be out for the count.

The poll found 58% of adults are asleep between 4.15pm and 4.30pm and a further 20% have had a doze in the half-hour period before then.

The average nap lasts for 20 minutes, according to the survey by TV recording service Freeview Playback.

The poll of 3,000 adults also shows the average Brit peaks at 10.30am on Christmas Day - and then goes downhill from there.

More than half of all adults will have been up by 7am Day because of their children. One in three Britons say they have a drink before lunchtime.

Before the big day, the average person will have already spent 15 hours shopping, clocked up 300 miles visiting friends and relatives and been out on the town 12 times.

Sorting out presents, decorations and entertaining means 65% of adults find Christmas the most stressful time of year.

Freeview general manager Ilse Howling said: "By the time Christmas Day comes it's not surprising we are ready for a break."
