 Ananova:
Six dead, three hurt in car crash

Three people, including two children, remain in a critical condition after a head-on car crash that killed six.

A nine-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy are being treated for serious injuries.

The collision occurred on Friday night close to the Broadwell turning on the A429 between Moreton-in-Marsh and Stow-on-the-Wold, Gloucestershire.

Gloucestershire police confirmed five people were declared dead at the scene and four more were taken to hospital.

A sixth person, a 61-year-old woman, died in hospital early on Saturday.

Police believe the crash happened when a grey Peugeot 306 travelling northbound tried to overtake a red Kia, colliding head-on with a green VW Passat.

All those in the Passat are thought to be from Stow-on-the-Wold. The 61-year-old front-seat passenger died in hospital and the driver, a 53-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The injured boy and girl were travelling with another female passenger in the back seats of the Passat.

Police said the boy was being treated at Bristol's Frenchay hospital for head injuries, and the girl at Bristol Children's Hospital for abdominal injuries.

The woman, believed to be 34, was receiving treatment for chest injuries at Gloucestershire Royal hospital.
