Today is the fattest day of the year. Experts have crowned today "Fat Wednesday" as Britons will consume nearly double the calories they should. According to The Sun the average person will consume 4,000 calories on "Fat Wednesday" - around double the 1,940 recommended for women and 2,550 for men. The reason behind the gorging is because today falls in the middle of a four-week gap between people giving up New Year diets and starting new ones to get in shape for summer holidays. This year's early Easter break means most people still have chocolate and sweets in their homes. On Christmas Day Britons consume around 7,000 calories each.
