A cemetery groundsman in the US has told how he found the image of a human face in a log he had just sawed in half.

Ernest Ward took the log into the office of his local newspaper, the Daily Times in Maryville, Tennessee.

He told reporters he found it as he and co-workers cleaned up debris from a weekend storm at the local Magnolia Cemetery.

Mr Ward said: "Who he is, I don't know."

He added that a former worker at the cemetery believed the face was a spirit.
