Farmers build F1 car out of junk

Two farming brothers in China took 20 years to build their own Formula 1 racing car out of cooking pots, bicycles, and steel doors.

Zhao Xiushun and Zhao Baoguo, of Tangshan, said the car is entirely hand-made from materials they could find on and around their farm.

"We tried and used whatever we could get," Zhao Shunxiu told the City Post.

Their red racing car, nicknamed Brother, drew amazement from audiences at the Tangshan auto fair after they learned it was built by two farmers.

The brothers say it has a top speed of 100mph and always attracts attention whenever they take it for a drive.

They say it is a tribute to their late father, a truck driver who died in an earthquake 32 years ago, who told them: "It's no big deal to drive, but it's quite something to build a car."

"All our knowledge about making a F1 racing car is from magazines and books," said Zhao. "It would be wonderful if our father could see this car."
