A Chinese zoo is using viagra to encourage a male tiger to mate.

Jiujiang Zoo, in Jiangxi province, borrowed a male tiger, called Jing Jing, from JingdezhenZoo in Hebei to mate with its only tiger, a four-year-old female, called Qi Qi.

But so far there has been a distinct lack of action in the tiger enclosure so vets have been asked to help nature take its course.

A spokesman for Jiuiiang Zoo told People's Daily: "Qi Qi is the right age for mating, and it took us quite some time to find her such a mate.

"To improve her chances, we are providing Jing Jing with more nutritious food and also getting the vet to prescribe him some Viagra to heat things up."
