 Ananova:
Ex-porn star takes 362 votes in crucial seat

A former porn star has picked up 362 votes as an election candidate in an important marginal seat.

Tina Harvey stood on an election platform of wanting to legalise sex workers and massage parlours.

She formed The Liberated Party and launched her manifesto for Northampton South in bondage gear.

The seat was won by Labour candidate Tony Clarke, with 21,882 votes. He was 885 votes ahead of nearest rival Shailesh Vara of the Conservative Party.

Andrew Simpson of the Liberal Democrats polled 6,355 votes and UK Independence Party candidate Derek Clark won 1,237 votes.

Ms Harvey came ahead of ProLife candidate Clare Johnson, who polled just 196 votes.

Northampton South is one of the 10 most marginal seats which the Tories targeted. In 1997, Labour's Tony Clark won the seat with a majority of just 744.

During her campaigning, 36-year-old Ms Harvey met Margaret Thatcher, who was on a tour of the town, and presented her with a banana skin
