Daughter poisoning: mother charged

The mother of a child who died from a suspected methadone overdose has been charged with poisoning her daughter, police said.

Fourteen-month-old Holly Agius was found in a "poorly condition" at her home near Coleford, Gloucestershire on January 12. She later died at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.

Holly's mother Bonny Richards, 27, and a 31-year-old man who has not been named, have both been charged with two counts of administering poison with intent to endanger life or inflict grievous bodily harm, Gloucestershire Police confirmed.

The pair also face charges of assault, ill-treating and neglecting a child.

They have been bailed to appear at Gloucester Magistrates Court on July 22.

An inquest into Holly's death was opened and adjourned in March.
