 Ananova:
Name change for Irish Monopoly champion

Ireland's Nigerian-born Monopoly champion proudly showed off his new identity ahead of the board game's world championships.

Trainee accountant Ekumdayo Badmus has changed his surname to O'Badmus to sound more Irish.

The 37-year-old, who only moved to Dublin two years ago, will also be taking two patches of turf from the Emerald Isle to the upcoming tournament in Toronto, Canada, so he can always have Irish land under his feet.

Mr O'Badmus, who has been a Monopoly fanatic for 20 years, will be taking on fellow champions from 40 countries over three days during the competition.

The winner will pick up $15,140 dollars (£10,000) - the amount of Monopoly money contained in a standard set.

Mr O'Badmus said: "It is a great honour to represent Ireland and I am determined to do it in style. I never expected to get this far."
