A car dealer in Tennessee, US, has taken a shot in the dark with his latest promotion - a free gun with every sale. Greg "Lumpy" Lambert is giving away free vouchers for customers to buy a gun and a free water pistol for every child during his special offer. Gun control advocates have slammed the "Second Amendment" sales campaign, named after the right to bear arms in the US constitution. "If it is possible to further lower the image of used car salesmen this guy has done it," said Naomi Paiss, a spokesman for Washington DC based Handgun Conrol Inc.. Ms Paiss said the entire promotion was "irresponsible" reports The Knoxville News-Sentinel reports, Mr Lambert said: "We are in East Tennessee. This is a sportsman's paradise. We thought just before fall, just before deer-hunting season, that it might be nice to have a promotion like this." Mr Lambert, 34, runs a small family-owned car lot, Advantage Auto Sales in a Knoxville, Tennesse. He typically has 15 to 20 used cars for sale at any one time. He plans to offer vouchers for a bolt-action, 8 mm deer rifle, valued at around $100, (£77). The vouchers will be voided if the holders aren't qualified to own a gun. |
